 Madame Comes to Visit

I was very surprised today when a fellow member of the Ornery as Hellfire came to visit me in Texas. How Madame Sadie knew where to find me I shall never know.
She showed up on my doorstep very tired and more than a little aggravated.
Apparently someone told her she would find a certain gentleman from overseas in my little neck of the woods.
I asked if she had told Fairweather, Aunt Ornery or Willard that she was headed out here. After evading the question I finally got a reluctant no from her.
Since there was no world renowned haunted locations near me I seriously must assume that someone was playing a cruel trick on her.

I put her back on the bus (since that was how she got here) with a sixpack of Bud Lights and a bag full of goodies to eat on. Now if only I could let Fairweather and the others know she was here.

On that note Happy April 1st.

Paris did what to the fanny of a mouse????

Okay I admit I didn't get the whole story but....
The following is from last night's MSNBC's Countdown blog NEWSHOLE--
1 Healing is Hot: Louis Pasteur, Niels Bohr, Gregor Mendel and Albert Einstein are all great names in the field of science and all made epic contributions to the world as we know it. Tonight, that roll of scientific greats is joined by another. Countdown salutes science's latest immortal contributor: Paris Whitney Hilton. No, she didn't map the human genome or cure any disease. Paris Hilton made a mouse's fanny feel better.

Nobody in their right mind would accuse Miss Hilton of being a scientist, or even the girlfriend of one, and yet Keith Olbermann salute's the famous (for being infamous) Miss Hilton.
It just seems to me that whatever she did for the rat's hiney might end up in one of her infamous internet movies.
Wonder what the title would be-- Paris and Me-- as told by Ben the Mouse Oh my! I do appolgize to Robert Lawson about the play on the title.

*Ben and Me: An Astonishing Life of Benjamin Franklin by His Good Mouse Amos by Robert Lawson.

 Labor Day 2007

Labor Day means a lot of things to a lot of people but very few now realize what it meant when it first was instituted locally in 1882 (and a federal holiday in 1892).
Now it means one final chance to go to the beach for summer or one final summer barbecue or for the person who believes in humanitarian causes the annual Muscular Distrophy Association telethon. Originally it was planned as a day off for the hardworking union man who was working long hard hours (Often 12-18 hours a day). It was a day for parades, picnics and later on political speeches. Sometimes fireworks and showing off new clothes before winter and school started for the women and children.
Our President recently announced that Americans were well employed and the economy was doing well. Many of the people I know are out of work or working for less than minimum wage. This is not illegal immigrants. This is Americans who ancestors were here in the 1700’s. Don’t tell me we are doing well.
Towns that had a factory or large place of business now have it’s people out on unemployment, looking for jobs, or simply doing whatever it takes to make ends meet and feed their families.
Let our President and his people try to work as some of us do for one month and survive on that pay then tell the world we are doing well.
I mentioned the MDA telethon earlier. This is a yearly event that Jerry Lewis has hosted for a long time 50 years more or less. He started it after his child died from one of the diseases that make up MD. His motto every year is "one dollar more". So far the country has never let him down no matter how hard a time we’re having to get by. For the sake of the children and everyone that has MD or knows someone with it, Please consider helping them. Information about this wonderful charity can be found at http://www.mdausa.org/.

Until the next time we meet Take care.

 Intuition and Guts

A certain member of the current presidential staff has claimed recently his gut is warning him of upcoming possible attacks. There are quite a few so-called political pundits making jokes about this.

Historically speaking a number of prestigious men and women have had these feelings. Some claimed it was God talking to them and other just "had a feeling". In women it's called intuition and believe me we do get a lot of crap about that too. But tell a woman who just prevented her child from being hurt that it's crap, and you really could be slapped from here to to yonder.

Intuition has kept people from many undesirable things.

In ancient Greece they called this an omen or augur.

In Scotland, "By the pricking of my thumb".

Many a soldier has had the hairs on the back of their neck stand up just as someone has them in the sights of their guns.

Chertoff may or may not be having a correct "gut feeling" but often gut feelings are no more than instinct and experience saying "be careful!"

Until the next time we meet Take care.
